Resonances and final state interactions in the reaction pp → pK +

A study of the strangeness production reaction pp→pK + Λ for excess energies of ǫ ≤ 150 MeV, accessible at high-luminosity accelerator facilities like COSY, is presented. Methods to analyze the Dalitz plot distribution and angular spectra in the Jackson and helicity frames are worked out and suitable observables for extracting information on low lying resonances that couple to the KΛ system and...

Generalized resummation of QCD final-state observables

The resummation of logarithmically-enhanced terms to all perturbative orders is a prerequisite for many studies of QCD final-states. Until now such resummations have always been performed by hand, for a single observable at a time. In this letter we present a general ‘master’ resummation formula (and applicability conditions), suitable for a large class of observables. This makes it possible fo...

Final State Interactions

Precise measurements of the mass and width of the W boson are carried out in e + e − collisions at Lep, by kinematic reconstruction of the invariant mass distributions of W + W − → qq ′ ℓν ℓ and W + W − → qq ′ qq ′ candidate events. The most recent combination of such results from Aleph, Delphi, L3 and Opal uses approximately 82% of the final Lep2 integrated luminosity and is preliminary. The m...

Final State Interactions and Ε

I discuss the rôle of strong final state interactions (FSI) in K → 2π decays. In this case strong FSI effects can be resummed [1,2] by solving the Omnès problem for K → 2π amplitudes. Implications for the CP conserving ∆I = 1/2 ratio and the direct CP violation parameter ε ′ /ε are also discussed.

Automated Resummation of Final State Observables in Qcd

A special aspect of QCD in the Standard Model is that the regime where the theory is strongly coupled is within reach of current experiments, and indeed unavoidable. This gives rise to a number of non trivial phenomena, for instance one encounters non-convergent perturbative (PT) expansions and large non-perturbative (NP) corrections even at scales which are, at least formally, within the domai...
